What is a QR Code?
QR stands for Quick Response.
All new smart phones and internet-connected mobile devices can now download free apps that include QR and barcode readers. The user simply uses the app & points the camera of the mobile device towards the QR code.
A QR code can actually send the user in a number of directions, including automatically making a phone call (eg. call your business to make an appointment), pre-loaded sms, watch a video, skype call, image of PDF, even automatically connect you to the local wifi, with password already encoded within.
Most businesses simply QR codes to point to a simple web-page. This saves the user from having to type in your long URL on their mobile device, and can be especially useful if sending them to individual pages
eg. details of a particular property on a Real Estate Agent website.
Create Your own Unique QR code
If you DO have a mobile-friendly website, why not create your own unique QR code, and add if onto your next run of business cards (I put mine on the reverse of my biz card linking to a special offer), and also on your headed paper, compliment slips, and even your various Social Media cover images.
To create a QR code, just search online & you’ll find there are many free sites, and some can even create cleverly bespoke and uniquely designed QR codes that can change the style, colour and even embed your business logo in there.
However, a word of warning; I’ve tried and tested this many times, and many QR readers struggle to read the images if they are less simple.

Google’s latest update, mobilegeddon will have a Significant Impact
Google have stated that this latest update will have a SIGNIFICANT IMPACT.
This is likely to initially mean that your business website will still be found on desktop searches, but disappear altogether from mobile searches… of course, the whole point here, is that more and more of your potential customers are now using their mobile devices to search for you, and the EXPECT to find you… If your potential customers don’t find you online, chances are they’ll simply go and do business with your biggest competitor!
