Follow along with our Six month Mentorship and Coaching starting September 2016 as we aim to generate six figures recurring income annually from scratch
One main student Colin, has been asking me for a few years to coach and mentor him to Make Money Online, and I finally relented last week. If you’ve ever tried to get any real one-on-one time with an experienced Online Marketer, you will appreciate how rare this is.
Now although I get a buzz from seeing that light-bulb moment in the student’s eyes, I haven’t actually offered any coaching in the last three years, and I’ve been focusing on my own results and enjoying my time and location freedom.
So not many people are prepared to invest as much as Colin in one-on-one coaching, and it occurred to me that we could help lots of others by allowing them to follow along as we go through the process from scratch, with the aim of achieving a six-figure annual recurring income online.
We are aiming to reach the stage of being able to generate six figures per annum recurring, and will also be covering outsourcing and leverage in order to free up as much personal time as possible.
Your input into the closed facebook group will be invaluable too, as you’ll all be able to bounce ideas and brainstorm with other like-minded individuals.
Well firstly, let me just reaffirm, that even if + when you DO find your way onto that elusive Page One of Google natural organic search results, that does NOT guarantee that you’ll get any more sales as a result.
However as in anything, it’s a numbers game, and the more footfall you have visiting your website, the higher your chances of more sales… which ultimately is the whole point in having any web exposure right?!
I have a friend who lives in Central London, smack in-between Covent Gardens and Leicester Square, which is an AWESOME location but soooo damn noisy at all hours of the day. I’ve stayed there many times, and I really don’t know how he manages to sleep amongst all that hubbub that is happening all through the night and day.
When I stay, I sleep with my earplugs in, and still I seem to hear all the sirens, bin lorries, glass collection, delivery trucks, drunks staggering home etc.
One day, we were having lunch outdoors & I commented to him that his corner has more footfall / visitors in an hour than I do passing my home in ten years… I later reflected that actually he probably has more passing bodies in one MINUTE than I would see in ten years passing my home… wowoweee!
So no matter what you are trying to sell, if you get in front of enough people, sooner or later you’re going to make sales… which is one of the reasons site like Amazon and eBay are so successful… because they have millions of items listed for sale at any one time, and they have millions of visitors to the site every day, therefore the sellers succeed & they are more likely to re-list a new item, and so the circle continues.
You may have heard of the Google algorithm and the aire of mystique surrounding it, as it seems no-one really knows exactly what counts and to what degree, so I always simply go by Logic.
As it happens, I generated my First Income Online two years before Google even started, so I’ve always been interested in staying at the cutting edge of technology and working out how to be found online, and to my mind, it’s all just logical.
Google Wants To Remain The Number One Search Engine.
Google has already become the number one search engine in most of the civilised first-world countries, and they wish to continue that outstanding position.
So one of the primary questions they want to keep asking themselves is; Q. How do we ensure that we continue to give the most relevant results to the keyword search phrases?
and the answer has always revolved around TWO key elements; A. Relevance and Authority
Hackers and Updates
Inevitably there are always going to be some smarty-pants hackers who want to cheat the system, and hence Google has come out with various updates such as Panda, Hummingbird, Penguin…
This has resulted in thousands of websites being reassessed and downgraded, and many would-be Internet-Marketers losing their ill-gotten income, which was often in the region of tens of thousands of dollars per day.
Is the Business still in Business?
This may not be as stupid as it first appears…
Statistics show that more than 80% of businesses do not survive beyond the first five years, and then more than 80% of those survivors do not last beyond the next five years.
So if I search Google for a “Cafe in Leith Edinburgh” today, I want Google to show me LIVE results of businesses that are still actively IN business, and not show me results that are out-of-date…
So how does any search engine know that your business is still actively seeking customers attention?
Well this question is always going to be a tricky one for a piece of software to answer… or so you would think…
Until you start to think about the logistics…
Reviews, Citations, Webpage Updates.
Reviews: If a member of the public completes an online review via one of the major review sites (Yelp, Google, TripAdvisor), then whether it’s a good or bad review, the chances are that the review is relevant and topical.
Citations: A citation is essentially confirmation of business contact details. There are many Directory sites available to the business owner to add their own details. Most directories are free to add the basic information, although they may charge for extras such as being able to add images or more categories.
Webpage Updates: If the business website or blog is updated regularly, this is a sure sign that the business is actively seeking new customers. Stagnant or out of date businesses are unlikely to be adding or editing data on their website.
Of course, most websites have “static” webpages, that are not regularly updated, and if you think about it, the majority of the main pages don’t consist of data that requires updating, such as;
Homepage, About Us, Location, Contact
Even Products, Shopand Galleryare sometimes not updated frequently.
Regular Blog Updates
So that leaves us with the option of creating and adding regular blog updates.
In today’s world, that is easy to achieve. Google even owns a blog site called blogger.com, and you can connect your main website directly to that, so what other excuses do we have?
Well I guess if you don’t want to do something, you’ll always find yet another excuse.
Note; I don’t ask you to commit to a daily, weekly or even monthly blog post… I deliberately use the word “regular“, and you get to decide on the frequency without over-committing to it.
There are more SEO guidelines (I don’t call them rules) to ensure that your blog posts are also noticed by Google, and ideally positioned on the very First Page of the natural search results, and I will cover this in another post.
Meanwhile if you simply commit to adding one new blog post or update a page on the website, maybe once per month, you would have another twelve unique URLs for Google to index and point towards your main site.
There is software that will automatically create a blog post for you, BUT ultimately you have to remember that this is YOUR reputation, and you have worked all of your life to build on that, so I always recommend that you keep your integrity intact and never resort to anything that may later come back and bite you on the bum.
So in Summary
Google want to ensure that they are consistently producing results that are the most relevant to the Keyword Search Phrases, and in 2016, it has become even more important that the results most definitely includes businesses that are actively IN business and seeking new customers… so all you as the business owner needs to do, is UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE on occasion…
