Proof of SEO Success – why is my website not showing up in google approved, endorsed SEO expert solutions
I just thought I would check out yet another random email I received from another would-be ‘SEO expert’ and I spotted that her title on Linkedin was as a “UK Local SEO Consultant” so I thought I would check out her website and her own inbuilt SEO, and especially I like to look for Proof of Results… after all, if you’re going to claim that you can Dominate Google’s Natural Search Results, you’ve gotta have at least some proof to back up your claims right?
How do you get your website found online?
Let’s be honest, nobody scrolls to page 40 to find your search results these days, instead we will simply change our search keyword phrase and try again…
And what about Google Image of Google Video searches?
I guess it’s likely that a smaller percentage of your ideal clients are likely to search the video or image results, but nevertheless, these areas should not be overlooked…
I heard recently that youtube alone has more than 72 HOURS of video being uploaded every single MINUTE… that is simply absurd… that means it would take a lifetime to watch all the video that is being uploaded in ONE DAY!!
And the irony here, is that video is STILL the fastest method of DOMINATING the Google search results if SEO’d properly at the outset!
And with the ever-increasing popularity of instagram (now owned by facebook, and with fabulous filters built-in), Pinterest and snapchat, the visual stimulation and being found on Google images is even more important!
Most of us prefer not to read text, but to look at images (remember; a picture paints a thousand words) and video gives us even more content for our senses…
And of course, with more than 90% of the first-world population now owning a smart phone, and being ever-addicted to staring at screens, we MUST ensure that out images, videos and webpages are mobile-friendly too… indeed Google have now confirmed that they are no longer indexing websites that are NOT mobile-friendly… see my article here; http://1st-page-ranking.com/mobilegeddon/

If your business was attracting so many customers that you simply couldn’t cope with all the requests, and you realised that in-fact you have some enquiries that you simply don’t want, because they will take too much of your precious time and not give you the justifiable financial rewards as a result… what do you do?
When businesses start out, they often find that they are simply competing over price… Then the more experienced entrepreneurs realise that if they simply add more bonuses & features, and retain same competitive price, then they will attract more business… BUT there reaches a stage when we all appreciate VALUE over price… and we agree that we would happily pay for VALUE.
Check out my watch…
I purchased this in 1999 as a little gift to myself, and even today, Rado still sell that same model, and at a slightly lower price than I paid 16 years ago…
When I was a successful Financial Adviser based in Edinburgh, my highest earning client would fly up from London especially to meet with me & I spotted this watch on his wrist, and I decided that one day I would own one of those too. So one day, when I was waiting in Geneva airport for a flight transfer on to Toronto, I spotted this and decided to treat myself (I used to fly to Toronto every three months for ONE DAY of business coaching, but that’s another story).
I’ve since replaced the bracelet, and last year I paid another £450 for new insides as I had made the mistake of having the battery replaced in a cheap shop and then still wearing it in the swimming pool.
Still, it’s now 16 years old & still looks amazing!
I often catch people sneaking a glimpse and often commenting on my lovely watch.
So what’s the real cost of such an adornment? and is it a cost or investment ?
Many years ago, I read a survey that investigated the purchase price and running costs of a Mercedes versus a Ford as a company car, and then the inherent resale value after three years. I can’t remember the specifics of what models, purchase prices, fuel economy or mileages estimated, but I do remember that the Mercedes came out as the best buy for overall value, as well as added prestige & thus more sales, as customers preferred to work with successful companies & not those that ran the cheapest vehicles.
Here’s me with my last car… my cherished convertible Mercedes, my private number plate, and spot my watch too. 😉
When my youngest son was 16, he started working for a well-known and distinguished hairdressing salon in Edinburgh city centre. They had a lot of employees & were always fully booked. Of course, he had to start at the bottom, cleaning sinks and sweeping floors etc, and he was paid £20 per day for effectively a 12 hour day including his one hour bus journey each direction every day.
He was allocated one day off per week, and on that day, he had to come in to work for “staff training”… as it happened, he was essentially still doing EXACTLY the same work, even on his ‘staff training’ day, which was unpaid, and gave him zero free time.
One day, I called him and he was on the bus heading home (he didn’t live with me, although I was living in the city centre, so it would have been much more convenient for him)., and he said “you’re not going to be very happy with me dad… I’ve just resigned… I replied that I wasn’t in the least bit upset, as he had done more than I would have… and after 14 months of being treated as a slave, he had finally decided that he was worth more. That loyalty and hard-working ethic would stand him in good stead for any future potential employer, and meanwhile I had an idea for him to start his own business, so I suggested that he take a couple of days off to recharge & then come in to see me.
So to cut a long story short, we agreed that I would set him up in his own business, and after our chat, he was heading to get his own hair cut, so I walked with him for the few minutes into town & I asked him how he was going to distinguish himself to attract business…
He replied that his USP (Unique Selling Proposition) was that he was going to be the cheapest… I smiled as I guessed that would be his answer, and it just so happened that we were walking past a little barber shop at the time, with zero customers & the barber staring out of the window wondering what he was doing wrong… he was already the cheapest barber in town & yet bereft of customers.
I pointed this out to my son & I highlighted that he could get a haircut for £5 here, and as I expected, my son guffawed at the suggestion. I asked how much he was about to spend on same, and he replied “probably around £40”.
I just doubled my fees – check out the inherent value within…
So I was asked this week by a new potential client, what other questions he should be asking his SEO ‘expert’, and I advised that he should “check the SEO service for proof of results and testimonials” and I figured that I should check my own results before giving such advice… so check this out… not only Google First Page Web Domination, but also Video Domination and Image Domination!
How happy would you be if this was the results for YOUR business keywords? Would that make a difference to your enquiries and sales ?
Video reorded in High Definition (HD). You may wish to click on bottom right to view full screen (will take a couple of seconds to adjust).
Here are the links I have highlighted in the tuition video;
So firstly; The latest updates are being rolled out in USA only initially, (but Google have indicated that the updates WILL happen worldwide, and they WILL affect every language).
Secondly; The industry experts expect YOUR BUSINESS to be ranked DOWN if you do NOT have a mobile friendly website. This is likely to primarily affect anyone searching for your business on mobile devices, whilst your site may still be ranking well (initially) via desktop searches (be wary of your SEO expert’s proof of results).
Thirdly; Does your business have a mobile app?
Google have indicated that they will firstly check to see if a Google browser has your mobile app already loaded onto their mobile device, and if they have, then your site/app will show up VERY highly on the new search results. This takes the idea of creating mobile apps for your business to another level.
If you’ve used any mobile device, and tried to search for a website, you will instantly know the difference between an easy-to-read webpage, that may have a menu option to visit the other pages, and a page that tries to squeeze all the information onto one screen, meaning you have to pinch and stretch various areas in order to see the element that you want to read. Of course, if you also have to fill in some information, this becomes a real pain.
In 2012, I apparently became the largest mobile app creator in UK.

If your business website does not display well on mobile devices, your search engine optimization (SEO) ranking may plummet, and Google even warned of penalties for the worst offenders, according to SearchEngineWatch.
Google announced on its official blog on February 26 2015, that the change “will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.”

If you needed a little encouragement to optimize your website and embrace mobile readiness, this is it. To find out how mobile friendly your site is right now, Google offers a free mobile-friendly test. Hopefully, you get the “Awesome! This page is mobile-friendly” result, but there’s only one way to find out. No matter what your grade, make sure to visit Google’s official mobile SEO guide because this tells you exactly what Google wants. It’s like getting a teacher-approved cheat sheet for the big test. The biggest mistakes are slow mobile pages, mobile-only 404 errors, blocked CSS/JavasScript/image files, faulty redirects, cross-links that don’t make sense, and unplayable content to name just a few.
Use the Google Developer’s Page Speed Insight Tools to find out more information and make your website as fast as it can be–which is a must for viewing on a mobile page. Studies have shown that people want mobile pages to load even faster than desktop.
Firstly; I maintain that nothing to do with the internet is difficult, but it IS time consuming!
So whilst you ‘could’ make all of the changes yourself (at zero cost), you may decide to simply invest in an expert to do this for you, in the same way that you wouldn’t try to fix your own car or TV.
If your site is running a WordPress theme, either it is ALREADY mobile friendly (responsive)….
Or it’s not.
To test if your theme is responsive or not, simply visit What WP Theme Is That and check to see if your site looks exactly the same on a teeny tiny mobile screen as it does on your desktop screen?
Luckily, the fix is very simple:
1. Change your WP Theme. Virtually every WordPress Theme since 2014 is now responsive, and thus will AUTOMATICALLY resize for all mobile devices. Of course the total look of your site may change completely, but then again, you don’t want your site to look the same, as it’s not working properly on mobiles, so now may be as good a time as any to bring your site into the 21st Century.
Find all the free mobile responsive themes HERE!
If you don’t want to upgrade your theme, you can simply add one of many wordpress plugins to make-your-WP-site-mobile-friendly. eg.
One thing to keep in mind…
Many free mobile plugins will monetize their work by adding Google Adsense Mobile to their displays. However, you can often insert your Google Adsense Publisher ID instead!
